Half the Sky
“The challenge that women and girls face around the world is not an easy topic to
talk about. But we really think it is the moral challenge of the century.”
- Sheryl WuDunn, 2012
This exhibit is a component of the Common Read/Common World Initiative encouraging the 91Ƶ community to share in reading Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity For Women Worldwide.
Four key themes from the book are examined:
- Education
- Economic empowerment
- Maternal health
- Violence
Our hope is to spark dialogue and action about these important issues.
As artist Jamie Johnson reminds us in her compelling photographs, we are much more similar than we are different, making us all interconnected.
