Pre-Occupational Therapy

Welcome to Pre-OT! We are excited that you have your sights set on becoming a occupational therapist. You have a long road ahead of you but we are here to help. We will provide information and support as you take the pre-requisite courses up until you start the application and testing process.

â–¼   Requirements for Occupational Therapy School

Most occupational therapy schools require the following courses:

o   General Biology and lab*
o   Anatomy and Physiology I and II
o   Physics I and lab (algebra/trigonometry)**
o   Math (precalculus algebra or higher)*
o   English Composition I and II*
o   Public Speaking*
o   Psychology courses (Developmental or Lifespan, and Abnormal)
o   Statistics
o   Kinesiology**

*Not required for 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s program

**Kinesiology or physics with algebra/trigonometry is required for 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s program; kinesiology is preferred

Some schools require other science, math, medical terminology, and/or behavioral sciences.  It is important that you research the requirements for those schools in which you are interested.  Your pre-health advisor can help you with this research.

91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s program does not accept AP, IB, or CLEP credit for any prerequisite coursework.

Some schools require documented observation hours with a licensed occupational therapist.  Hours required vary by school.
