Obstetrics & Gynecology Divisions
The University of South Alabama Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has five divisions within the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Health Strada Patient Care Center, Children's & Women's Hospital and Mitchell Cancer Institute. Please click the name of each division to learn more about each one.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers general gynecologic care to women of all ages. We also provide leading edge obstetrical care to women experiencing routine pregnancies as well as screening for and monitoring those at high-risk. We also offer major and minor surgical care and inpatient and outpatient hospital care.
Dedicated to teaching and research activities, our faculty works closely with the staff of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Health Children's & Women's Hospital providing clinical care to patients across the region.
Our faculty has special qualifications and experience in maternal-fetal medicine, urogynecology, gynecologic oncology and pediatric and adolescent gynecology. We care for high-risk obstetrical patients from across the region at Children's & Women's Hospital. We manage 4,000 births annually in addition to other services.

The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine provides comprehensive care for pregnant women who are at high risk for adverse outcomes for themselves or their fetus, or have medical conditions that may cause complications. Our care team is based on an interdisciplinary concept, utilizing the full resources of the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Health System. The physicians within the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine follow the guidelines established by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Our goal is to rapidly diagnose problems, evaluate the best treatment options, and choose the best plan for both mother and infant, while maintaining close communication with the referring OB/GYN or family practice physician about progress.
The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ High-Risk OB team is composed of specialized physicians, nurses, obstetrical sonographers and social workers - all dedicated professionals who are trained in the care of women with high-risk pregnancies. The management of high-risk pregnancies requires knowledge, skill and expertise. Our center is supported by the vast faculty experience in the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the resources of Children's & Women's Hospital.

Urogynecology is dedicated to the treatment of women with pelvic floor disorders such as urinary or fecal incontinence and prolapse (bulging) of the vagina, bladder and/or the uterus. Our physicians use state of the art urodynamic equipment to assess and treat these troubling conditions.

Our Department of Gynecology offers a Tumor Treatment Center, which treats a wide range of gynecologic malignant growths.

We also offer treatment to patients in need of complex surgical skills, such as those performed by robotic equipment.
A gynecologic oncologist works with radiotherapists and medical oncologists to provide the best care to our patients.
When appropriate, patients may also participate in clinical trials which test promising new treatments. Our physicians are also available for second opinions.

Those under the age of 18 often experience gynecologic issues. This designation serves pediatric and adolescent patients as they receive treatment or routine care in a comfortable environment.
Under the care of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Health OB/GYN providers, patients can ensure they will receive answers, treatment and personalized care starting from adolescence into adulthood. Currently, 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Health is the only health system in Mobile and Baldwin counties offering this designation.
